Cro-Magnon Fire Squad

(Cartoon after jump.)I was on the Upper East Side this morning, desperately seeking an affordable place for breakfast – it was a long but ultimately satisfying quest (I found a cheap bagel place on 80th and 3rd Avenue).

With my belly full, I headed west toward Lexington Avenue to catch the Six Train, which is the first leg of my journey back to Jersey City. I was waiting for the light to turn on 3rd Avenue when I saw a van marked “Scientific Fire Prevention.” I knew there was a potential cartoon staring me in the face.

Almost every product or service today, at least in my opinion, is marketed as a technological breakthrough, with many simple items such as spray cleaners, being sold as “systems.” This led me to ask how Cro-Magnon businessmen would market their fire prevention services in 21st century America (please don’t inquire as to why this entered my thoughts, because I don’t really know). I feel that Cro-Magnon Man would focus on a niche: fire suppression. If you think that they would be capable of much more, or you belong to some sort of Cro-Magnon anti-defamation organization, please accept my deepest apologies.

“The term falls outside the usual naming conventions for early humans and is used in a general sense to describe the oldest modern people in Europe, though also a specific (but very frequent) subtype among their fossil remains. In recent scientific literature the term “early modern humans” is used instead.”
