My editorial staff and I whittled down the caption submissions to three. It was a tough slog; antique chairs were smashed to bits, cheap alcohol was consumed with reckless abandon, and several relationships – both professional and personal – were soiled beyond the point where even a rigorous cleansing would be remotely sensible.
But it was all worth it. We now have a list of three smashing captions ready to be voted upon. And besides, even fancier antique chairs can be purchased inexpensively at foreclosure-related auctions, cheap alcohol is just that, and I found new and improved friends/editors (while shopping for more cheap booze). The final three captions are listed below:
1. “I, for one, see nothing wrong with the government bailing out the giant killer robot industry” by Christopher H
2. “You’d think he could’ve given me a hand” by Margie
3. “I swear, if that kid ever did one lick of work, he’d be dangerous” by Gwen L
Please vote in the “What’s Your Opinion” section, located in the center column, below “Recent Marbles” and a box of crappy ads. (Voting ends at 5pm.) I’ll post the cartoon with the winning caption inserted on Monday at noon, along with a brand new caption contest. I would like to thank everyone who participated – have a swell weekend. (I will also send a higher resolution file, suitable for printing, to the winner.)
