Spoiled Cockroaches – A New Cartoon

Even the vermin got spoiled.

Even the vermin got spoiled.

It’s Wednesday, and that means I’ve got a brand new cartoon for you; it’s one of my own finished versions – meaning that no assembly is required. I must say that I really like this one, it involves vermin and materialism, two of my favorite subjects.(Image after jump.)

First, a little social commentary:

I think the extraordinary wave of greed that swept the American landscape over the past few years probably touched all creatures, from those that slithered around boardrooms stealing shareholders’ money, to those that crawled in cupboards in order to feed their vast numbers of offspring.

Now we proceed to how this cartoon moved from mind to matter:

Just a few days ago my mind wandered – as it often does – to the behavior of vermin. Maybe it was the dreary newscast I was trying to ignore, or maybe it was the plastic-faced newscasters, relaying this sequence of misery, that I simply couldn’t turn away from. Anyway, I wondered if cockroaches were swept up by the tide of materialism that claimed so many pious souls in this land of plenty. Maybe they avoid homes that aren’t equipped with the latest in orgasmic digital wonders. Then I wondered how they might travel from one McMansion to another, which brought me to the vintage toy horse packed with cockroaches – priceless. Anyway, I hope you laugh.

  1. Listen you wanker cockroaches have SIX legs. That’s 1,2,3,4,5,6! 6! Six! Six! Like the number of cells in your bipedal mammalian vertabrate brain! You drew my brother (the gentleroach making like the kid from Home Alone) with 6 legs and 2 arms, making 8!!!

Did you get release form from Bobby? Because I can tell you Bobby C. Roach’s going to want royalties. Royalties I tell you! You’re going to be hearing from Bobby’s lawyers!

  2. Chill Jim, first of all, that’s not your brother Bobby. Second of all, I understand that cockroaches are known to have 6 legs, but can you account for every roach on the planet? Until you can show proof that you have, and that you haven’t found any with eight legs, I will request that you abandon your accusatory tone on my site – or you’ll hear from my attorneys. So, that means no dough for Bobby + the eight-legged roach stays.

  3. Hey, my brother Jimmy’s right. That does look like me. I didn’t give you permission to depict me in your cartoon. Remove my likeness post haste!

  4. I remember when I was a kid and we were so excited when we got our first color TV (yeah, that was a LONG time ago). Can you imagine the outrage of the average kid today if he had to watch TV in black and white?

  5. So THAT’S what you meant when you said we were invading disguised as a “pack of trojans…”
