Hi, and welcome to Splendid Marbles. This site is a daily tour of the stuff bouncing from one ear to the other inside my head.

I always had an interest in art. As a kid that meant either doodling or making large things out of many smaller things, like some very strange and unsafe tree houses in my parent’s backyard. I played sports and was pretty good at tennis, but I was far better at creating stuff.

Growing up in a house surrounded by very green trees in a town populated by very serious (and pale) people, it never occurred to me to pursue art more seriously. Art was not something that serious people did and I was supposed to be a serious person.

I was creative, but lacked the will power and the courage of conviction to pursue it. In college, I had no idea what I wanted to be, and therefore no idea what to study. The decision was made for me. Accounting it was.

Because I totally sucked at accounting, I became a bond broker, avoiding the shark-pool in favor of a rock surrounded by crocodiles. I was there for eight years, each one a century long.

After leaving the bond arena, everything finally changed. I relearned how to draw. I read everything I could get my hands on. I studied writing in New York City. I made art, collected art, developed graphic design skills, and feverishly wrote essays, articles, short stories, and even book reviews. In short, I had fun for the first time in my life.

I realized that I do have opinions – very strong ones indeed, and that I can express them in unique ways. So, please, join in! I’d love to hear what you have to say and what you think, too. I’m trying to create a forum for everyone to express themselves, especially since I know what it’s like to be silent for so long.

And, really, feel free to tell me when you think my marbles could use a spit-shine.
